Stockings completed just in the nick of time

2 stockings

I finished seaming Daniel's stocking on Christmas Eve and finished mine the day before. I am so proud of myself for actually having them done in time for us to use them. For next year, I'd like to add some silver beading to the star and perhaps add our names, but for now, they are FOs!

A Knitter's Christmas

As we were opening presents Christmas morning, my dad commented that my mom and I now have more tools than he does.  He cracks up how so many of the items on our Christmas list the last few years have been tools for knitting and scrapbooking.  Last year I got the Mermaid kit, a blocking board, a subscription to Vogue Knitting, and the Vogue Knitting book.  This year, my mom got the Knitpick Options Needle Set as well as the Cricut machine for scrapbooking which is awesome.  I also got her the book Knit Fix so she can hopefully fix her knitting mistakes when I'm not around.  I had a good knitting Christmas too:

presents

I received the Knit Picks bag set which is great!  The Victorian Lace book is gorgeous!!!  I know tons of people who asked for this one for Christmas and everyone seems to love it.  The patterns are beautiful and the writing actually seems interesting as well.  It is an eye candy book, but at the same time a book I think I will truly use for patterns and reference.  Daniel's parents renewed my subscription to Vogue Knitting.  And, Daniel tracked down a sock suitcase which is awesome!

If you knit socks, or anything on DPNs, and you carry it around in a bag, you need one of these!  You slip the DPNs in, close the other side, and the knitting hangs out the bottom.  I've had lots of broken DPNs and I'm hoping this cool invention will solve the problem.  To get one, email John and Dolores at shadow at yourinter dot net.

Also, I never got to show the gifts I received from the December LSSK meeting.  We had a White Elephant Exchange and I ended up with this awesome purple bag which will be great for carrying small projects.  It was actually the present my mom brought for the exchange and she wasn't surprised that I stole it from someone cause she knew it was something I would like.  Although it looks small, it actually fits a decent size project.  I'm thinking of keeping my lace stole project in here to keep it safe.

I also came home with 3 balls of Misti Alpaca laceweight yarn which I won awhile back in a word scramble contest on the list.  Not sure what I'll make with it.  Probably some lace scarves since I don't think I'd want an entire stole or shawl in red.  But who knows, I imagine it will marinate in the stash for awhile, but I will enjoy looking at it and thinking of the possibilities.  Especially with my new lace book.
