First Anniversary

Sunday,  March 12, was Daniel and I's FIRST ANNIVERSARY!!!!  I can't believe it's been a year.  In some ways, it feels like we've been together forever - in a good way, I think, b/c we are just so comfortable living together.  But I can't believe the wedding was already a year ago.  Seems like yesterday.  And we ate our frozen wedding cake and it was REALLY good.  If anyone ever needs a cake vendor, check out Cakes by Kathy - cheaper than the grocery stores and amazing quality!

Daniel had the week off for Spring Break so I took off too.  Instead of going on vacation, we had an Austin vacation eating at really good restaurants and doing fun stuff around town.  On Sunday, we went to Vespaio.  This has become a very hip place for dinner, but the quality was excellent.  We had a very nice meal and although it was not cheap, it was very reasonable for the quality and amount of food we got.  With some entrees in the $15 range, you could have a nice, reasonable dinner.

Tuesday night was our true anniversary dinner (they were closed on Sunday)- we had it at the place we stayed the night of our wedding - The Driskill.  The Driskill Grill is a 5 star restaurant and all I can say is WOW!!!!!!   We felt like we were on Iron Chef with the presentation of the plates and the amazing flavor combinations.  If you appreciate fine food and are going out for a VERY special occasion (or just have lots of money), this is the place for you.  Great atmosphere, AMAZING food, and excellent service.  They even gave us 2 free desserts for our anniversary and plate with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate with 2 truffles on it.

Other restaurants we visited this week - Bistro 88, The Melting Pot, and Pluckers.  All good.  It was a very fun culinary week and we also did fun stuff like miniature golf, visitng the Texas State History Museum, and creating our own Harry Potter Marathon.  Definitely the kind of break we both needed.
I was told not to get Daniel anything for our anniversary b/c he "spent too much."  Here's why:

How awesome are these?!?!  Notice those are ticket stubs and pics of us AT THE GAME so we will always be able to prove that we were in fact there.  The picture of the field is 4th & 5 - a play that will always be remembered in Longhorn history.
